Mary Denise Rand, MBE, is a British Olympic legend who won the gold medal in long jump at the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games by breaking the world record and became the first-ever British female to win an Olympic gold medal in a track and field event. In the same games Rand also won the Silver medal in the Pentathlon event and a Bronze medal in the 4 x 100m relay. This rare one-off item of signed Athletics memorabilia comprises of a black and white photo of Rand in Olympic action. Under this is an historic and colourful Olympic First Day of Issue Postal Cover which is date stamped and personally signed by Rand across the front. There is also an embedded replica Olympic Medal inset into the cover itself with printed details of her achievements.
